Working on the success of the pilot SIGNAL project (Schools Intergenerational Nurturing And Learning Project) we are now opening the benefits across the City as attached to your SDP.
1. Assembly: The school may choose from a range of interactive multimedia PSHE/Citizenship/Literacy/Numeracy assemblies based around the message of 'Hope' and 'Choices'. The assembly sets the 'scene' for school engagement with the whole project. 2. Workshop One: 'Superlambanana' art/IT workshop. Studying public works of art, the internet and IT, children will make their own creation on the Superlambanana heme. Cross-curricular work undertaken will be celebrated 'on-line'. The school will be left with all the materials as a powerful display. 3. Workshop Two: 'Newspaper Day'. Pupils will be engaged as 'reporters' for the day. Literacy, numeracy and IT skills will be enhanced and challenged in the creation of a full front page newspaper. The school will be left with this work as a further display. Work generated will be celebrated on-line. 4. Workshop Three: 'Virtual Reality Day'. Pupils will experience the 'awe' of virtual reality, experiencing its possibilities and inputting their own content which will be celebrated on-line and/or on CD. 5. Workshop Four: 'Music Day'. The pupils will be engaged in writing, performing, recording and mastering their own music. They will create their own CD sleeve using graphic design software and each pupil will be left with a copy. NB: The school may wish to take this forward in selling the music to parents in a 'mini-enterprise'. 6. CELEBRATION EXHIBITION: The work generated by pupils across the project will form the content of the celebration exhibition in Liverpool Cathedral. If you were at the SIGNAL Project's event in the Olympia Theatre you will appreciate how fulfilling and uplifting the children, schools and parents found the day. The Cathedral event promises to be something very special for the City of Liverpool and it's community! NB: The school may wish to expand any of the above workshops into longer running projects in their own right (such as the music workshop mini-enterprise). Details of the workshop expansion and our full range of additional workshops may be discussed by contacting JOHN PATTERSON or CARL FINNAN on: 07931
