CHRISTMAS SHOW 2002

An evening of Christmas music & dance featuring the LOVE & JOY GOSPEL CHOIR - Friday December 6th.

URBAN SOUND OUTREACH: currently works in after school clubs, day centres and schools providing workshops in music (including gospel singing, DJing, MCing) dance (hip-hop, break dancing), drama and mime. The project also provides lively music assemblies and assists schools in staging seasonal shows.

From September to December 2002 the project has been concentrating on a 10 week schools project to produce a mass gospel choir consisting of approximately 100, 9-11 year olds. Inspired by the Love & Joy Gospel Choir and a series of taster gospel choir workshops in schools during the summer term, we decided to take it a step further and do workshops over 10 weeks leading up to a Christmas show at Hope University in Everton.

Alongside the workshops in schools, we took other workshops in the Shrewsbury House after school club. These workshops involved Samba drumming, MCing, DJing, breakdancing and hip-hop dancing. The URBAN SOUND CHRISTMAS SHOW 2002 held on December 6th provided the opportunity for these young people to show their talents and the public what they learnt over the 10 week period.
